My Journey as a Leafscape Horticulture Specialist
Plants and People:
As a former Leafscape Horticulture Specialist, I spent two fulfilling years immersed in the art of plant care service. When I first took the job, I was looking for a break from my many customer service roles, drawn by the idea of focusing on plants instead of people. The job posting promised days spent nurturing greenery, and I imagined working quietly in solitude. But what I discovered was that the plants weren’t our only customers. Behind every thriving plant was a plant-loving person eager to share stories of their greenery’s progress since my last visit. From offices to residences, law firms to colleges, I formed genuine connections with clients who shared my passion for plants, making each visit all the more enjoyable.
Beyond the Green:
One of the things I quickly learned during my time at Leafscape was that providing office plant service isn’t just frolicking through accounts, petting leaves, and telling plants how pretty they are—though I won’t deny that happens occasionally! Coming into the role with zero plant knowledge, I was expecting a lighthearted, simple job. Instead, Leafscape gave me in-depth training that covered everything from understanding how much light plants need to determining which environments specific species thrive or struggle in. I learned how to control pests, clean and rotate plants properly, and ensure they not only survived but also shone, keeping our clients happy. The physical part of the job was far more demanding than I initially expected, and it takes true dedication to plants and customers to do the job well.
Passion and Precision:
It’s hard work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. There’s an art to making each plant look its best, and knowing that my efforts were appreciated by the people behind the plants made it all worth it. Seeing a plant thrive because of your care—and seeing the smile on a client’s face because of it—made the effort meaningful. Plant care isn’t just about tending to greenery; it’s about passion, precision, and dedication to creating beauty in every space.
