Get Green with National Decorating Month |PLANTation

Take advantage of National Decorating Month at Leafscape with some indoor plants in Little Rock, office landscapes in Conway, or any live or artificial plants across Central Arkansas from Hot Springs to Heber Springs.

That’s right, April is National Decorating Month, which means now is the time many Arkansans are taking steps to clean, renovate and restore their spaces in time for spring. This spring cleaning may include changing lighting, updating furniture or just adding a few accents here and there.

At PLANTation, we believe the best way to spruce up a home or office is by adding some living plants. As we mentioned in a previous blog, office plants can help clean the air, improve employee well-being and even increase productivity! During spring, plants are blossoming and growing strong, so now is the perfect time to invest in some flowering plants for your home or office. Here a few plants that are particularly popular during spring.

Lipstick Plant

Lipstick plants, or aeschynathus radicans, are one of the best plants for your Arkansas home or office because of their compact size and lipstick-shaped flowers. A close relative of the African violet, they are also quite easy to grow and maintain, and with proper care they can stay in bloom during any season. Give our Green Team at Leafscape a call at 888-821-5770 and we’ll keep the soil damp and store your lipstick plant in a warm, bright area so you will have beautiful flowers year-round.

Bromeliads

Picky about color? Want something that matches your décor? Bromeliads are actually a family of 3,170 flowering plant species, so you can be sure to find one that’s perfect for your office. In fact, you may have heard of the most well-known bromeliad – the pineapple.

Taking care of a bromeliad means indirect sunlight at temperatures between 55-85 degrees Farenheit, keeping the soil moist but not overwatering, and patience. Bromeliads take a long time to bloom, and only bloom once in their life, but will generate new plants around the original that will grow on their own. After about 6 months, separate and repot these new plants, and you will have plenty of bromeliads to decorate your space.

Orchids

Orchids are one of the most versatile species of flower out there, so there’s bound to be one color, style or shape for you. Each type of orchid has different care requirements, from cool to medium to warm, but care for these plants well and you will see beautiful flowers during this time of year. The orchid family, orchidaceae, is one of the biggest plant families, so there will be widely different watering requirements based on the exact type of orchid you get. Need help figuring out what orchid you should get? Need help caring for one? Contact the Green Team and we’ll help you through the process.

Peace Lilies

If you’re looking to modernize, peace lilies make the perfect accent for your open spaces. With bright green leaves and white, spoon-shaped blooms, the peace lily can make an impression even when not in bloom!

Furthermore, peace lilies will still grow in low-light and low-humidity conditions, making them one of the most popular and common flowering plants out there. As long as you maintain a temperature of 60-85 degrees and water occasionally, your peace lily will thrive in low to bright light.
