The holiday season is one of the busiest and most demanding times of the year for the Leafscape team, and nowhere is this more evident than in the annual poinsettia process. Beginning as early as summer, Robin, the management team, and admin meticulously do the groundwork for planning for the holiday rush by coordinating with suppliers to secure upwards of 1100 poinsettias. These vibrant plants, synonymous with holiday cheer, are delivered in multiple shipments to ensure they remain fresh and healthy for our customers. The week before Thanksgiving marks the start of the heavy lifting—literally and figuratively. Our plant technicians prepare their accounts for a shortened holiday week, managing a full workload in just three or four days. Meanwhile, the delivery team also has to prep the warehouse for all the extra plants, ensuring everything is ready for the influx of poinsettias. The teamwork and dedication required to pull off this feat are extraordinary.
The real hustle begins on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, when the first shipment of poinsettias arrives at our warehouse. Despite it being a weekend, many Leafscape employees give up part of their weekend to receive the plants, inspect them for quality, and prepare them for delivery. The warehouse buzzes with activity and holiday spirit as the team stages hundreds of poinsettias with foam and moss, readying them for the first wave of deliveries. This process, though grueling, is filled with camaraderie, music, and good food, making the hours more enjoyable. By Monday morning, our team is ready to bring the festive spirit to our customers, and the following weeks are a whirlwind of delivering and caring for poinsettias while maintaining our regular plant care routes. The delivery team shines during this time, ensuring every account receives their poinsettias on time and in pristine condition.
